Our Assets

Viper’s assets consist of mineral and royalty interests, primarily in the Permian Basin. As the owner of these interests, we are entitled to royalties from the production and sale of oil, natural gas and NGLs without the burden of capital expenditures or lease operating expenses.

Mineral Assets

Mineral interests are subsurface real property interests. Exploration and production companies lease these interests from Viper, in order to extract oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids from subsurface reservoirs. In exchange for leasing these interests, exploration and production companies may pay Viper an upfront cash payment and enter into a lease agreement specifying the terms and conditions concerning the development of these mineral interests.

Permian Basin

The Permian Basin, which consists of approximately 75,000 square miles centered around Midland, Texas, has been a significant source of oil production since the 1920s. The Permian Basin is known to have a number of zones of oil and natural gas bearing rock throughout.
